Digital Learning Experience and Service

Explorations III, Spring 2004

Due Date: May 19 (A day) or 20 (B day), 2004

This assignment may be revised to clarify concepts.

As an Explorations III student, you are expected to strive for challenges and push yourself to do better than you have done before. You are also expected to help others with your expertise. The Student Learning Outcomes are a critical part of your experience and should be embodied in everything you do.

Experience

1. Develop

Students should plan and develop a project using a computer that requires effort, creativity and persistence. This project should help the student learn more about a topic of interest through active exploration of a problem or set of problems.

2. Reflect

Reflect on your experience with the minimum reflection being the Tri-Class reflection and summary reflection. Each reflection should also be tied in some way to the student learning outcomes. Use the Reflection Rubric and Reflection Guide to help you write quality reflections.

3. Exhibit

Exhibit your work and results in your online digital portfolio. Your exhibition should include your reflection, project, and links to additional resources. It should be obvious from your portfolio how well you have met the Student Learning Outcomes.

4. Apply

You are working on an in-depth project. Apply your learning to a project you have been assigned in another class.

Service

5. Contribute

Your contribution is a vital part of your portfolio. Contribute your expertise to the school or community in some fashion. This may be directly related to your project or you may choose another method. However, it must involve the use of technology. Include a summary of your experience in your portfolio.

6. Share

Share your expertise about your project with others through teaching them what you have done or helping them learn to use the software or hardware you have used. Include a summary in your portfolio.
